“The Walking Dead, Vol. 19: March to War”

“A slower Walking Dead is still better than a lot of other comics. But. I can’t be the only one thinking that this new fella is basically turning into The Governor Part II.

I have a serious problem with characters like the Governor. Basically, they have everything they need, they’re thriving, and they can’t just put away their assholishness long enough to realize it. I mean, why would you have guys fighting in an arena? What possible purpose could that serve for you?

So my problem is, you see these characters in post-apocalyptic fiction who rise to power by being very charismatic and whatnot, but then you always find out they’re insane murdering crazyheads. Which makes sense EXCEPT that all of the followers are normal people who have no idea somehow.

This new guy is basically outright crazy. Which makes more sense, and his followers are fully aware of the crazy, which also makes a little more sense.

But at the same time there’s not one guy who got to power because he was smart and knew what the hell he was doing and isn’t doing all this good stuff to hide his habit of dismembering people and having sex with the torsos? Not one?”
