“I read this book in Spanish! Which means that the title was in Spanish, and the acknowledgements, but other than that, it’s the EXACT same book. But hey, I’m giving myself credit. That Duolingo shit is really paying off! I felt like I completely understood what was going on.
This is a cool book that uses surreal images to express a real thing. Lots of empathy going on here.
My one gripe with the book is the page of cloud drawings. It happens a little early on, and I gather that it’d probably be tedious to go a long ways on a boat, but damn, what a weird two pages. Also, how do you draw clouds? Like 100 of them? Without drawing the same shit? How do you balance drawing clouds that look like a thing and don’t look like a thing? Do you even draw a cloud that looks like a thing, or does that just happen? Obviously this page was both boring and mindblowing for me. That’s too many different things. “
