“The Amazing Spider-Man: Matters of Life and Death”

“New Venom, new directions, and a touching Nuff Said style story.

Does everyone know about that Nuff Said stuff?

Marvel tried it as a special event. The idea was to tell wordless stories in comics, relying on the art to tell the story.

The rumor is that the idea originated with a GI Joe comic that was famously printed without any of the dialogue or sound effects. There has always been rumor and speculation about whether or not this was on purpose, whether the issue came in under the gun and there was no time for lettering or if it was always intended that way. Either way, it actually kind of worked as the issue was mostly about ninja fights. Which are supposed to be silent, right?

It looks like they did a few like this towards the end of Amazing Spider-Man, and they make for a nice break. It’s also a really great chance to push focus on the art and artists who take on more of the storytelling burden then they might get credit for.”
