The fun of The Far Side is that each comic is like a little puzzle. You have to figure out what brought us to the one moment in time capture in the comic, or sometimes you have to predict what’s about to happen.
When you animate the one-panel comics, you get too much backstory, and the surprise isn’t there, and there’s no aspect of assembling the puzzle in your head. The joy gets sucked out a bit.
Plus, no mention of The Black Ghost.”
