Reverse Meet the Parents, not for me.
I also really despise “hitman with a heart of gold” stories. There is no such thing. John Cusack from the 90’s in a nice suit is not what a hitman looks like. John Cusack makes more movies per year now than the average hitman has teeth.
I think the story is repulsive to me because I’m like, “having a heart of gold and being a hitman are completely opposed to each other. Not killing people is pretty high up there in terms of values that would count towards the precious metal to which I’d compare your heart.”
I also don’t like the idea of someone having a child, therefore being a good person. They sold that shit in The Bear, and I’m not buying. Having a child does not make anyone a good person, and “I’m doing this to support my family” is not a great reason to kill people for money. Let’s consider: the people you’re killing often ALSO have families.
I’m not opposed to it because it’s morally bad, I’m opposed to it because it’s lazy storytelling. “How can I signify that this person who is constantly doing one of the top two worst thing an individual can do is not a bad person? I know, I’ll make him a loving father.”
This really has nothing to do with Spy Family, I didn’t find this to be a big issue because the tone of this book is not that serious. It’s more something that I find to be annoying in other media.
And I very much enjoyed the old man cumming all over himself whenever he witnessed elegant behavior. That shit was incredible.
