“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”

“If you liked this, but then only sort of liked the ending, read the comics. I’m telling you, the ending to the comics is VERY different and a lot more interesting.

I think what I didn’t love about this movie is that everything good in it is from the comics, and the movie didn’t add a lot that made things more fun. It’s a lesser version. And a lesser version of a very good thing is still pretty good, but a more emotional, meaningful story arc was replaced with swordfights, and, eh, normally that’d be a pretty solid trade, but I got major Kill Bill feels, which is to say, after about 10 minutes of fighting, I was all set.

That said, the resemblance of the actor cast as Stephen Stills to his comic book character is uncanny. Almost as though Bryan Lee O’Malley drew the character of Stephen based on that actor. Weird, man. Weird.”
