“Jigsaw used to kill people like doctors because they had C- bedside manner. Now he’s a vigilante going after total scumbag supervillains.
I miss the old Jigsaw. The one who put people into scenarios for genuinely crazy reasons. I suppose it’s harder to get an audience on that guy’s side, but the almost random nature of it made for much better horror. Putting someone in a trap because they’re a drug user is messed up, and I think that was kind of the point.
The teeth on these later Saws were dulled ever since the victims kinda sorta deserved what they got. It removes the twist on the slasher formula, and it takes away the fear for the viewer.
If a guy is killing people because, in his perception, they’re wasting their lives, any of us subscribed to 5+ streaming services could be next. When the guy moves to killing Bond villains, I’m not so much worried about it.”
