Thinner by Richard Bachman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
If you’re interested, the audiobook is read by Joe Mantegna, who also plays Fat Tony on the Simpsons. And so, because there is a mafia type in the book, we get a good dose of a Fat-Tony-adjacent voice acting marathon. Which is A-Okay in my book.
I don’t know what to say about this book other than this:
The ending involves a very gross pie. Described in detail.
And on Thanksgiving, three days ago, my mom made a dish that looked EXACTLY as I imagined the interior of that pie would look.
So maybe things in my regular life aren’t scary and thrilling enough because I don’t experience those things in fiction enough. I just need to read more shit that will turn my everyday into a horrorshow. An innocent berry dish turns into the manifestation of a Stephen King book, and it’s a more interesting world.
