“I’ve got a great idea for a cartoon. It’s about this guy, a sailor, named Popeye. He comes into various troubles, and he accesses super strength every time he eats spinach. It’s perfect. The kids love it, he provides a good example, and the parents buy in because they can see through our thin veneer and know that we are trying to sell their kids on a vegetable. It is our hope that kids will emulate and imitate this spinach-eating, therefore both enriching their lives and entertaining them at the same time!”
“Hmm…sounds not too bad. And then what?”
“Then, once we’ve got the kids hooked, Popeye solves every single one of his problems through unbelievably vicious physical assaults.”
“Oh. There might be a problem or two there.”
“Okay, okay, fair enough. What if he were constantly smoking a pipe? What does that do for you?”
