As some of you may know, I’ll be running a marathon in November. In Las Vegas. This 4 hours or so will probably end up being the longest run I ever make (time-wise) and also the longest time I spend sober in Las Vegas.
I thought it would be a good idea to really capture my journey. Keep myself motivated. Because, you know, training’s not easy.
Day one is here. Monday.
So, as you can see, in order to be true to myself and my goals, I’ll be forced to rest today. Shame.
In resting, I really did start to feel my passion for the sport return. There’s nothing that will make you love running like not doing it and still feeling like you’re somehow being responsible. There’s something about not doing anything and having that be the correct course that really speaks to me.
One of my top tips for resting is to get an eye mask. It’s awesome. For one, you’d be surprised how much light gets into a room because of that stupid bastard sun. For two, you’d also be surprised how lazy you can get. You can get lazy enough that the task of taking off the eye mask seems huge, so you stay in bed an extra hour.
They say a journey always begins with a single step. In this case, it begins with none steps, which means the journey will probably be even bigger and better.
