The Purple Heart story is probably the strongest. I liked that one quite a bit. Lots of heart mooshed into one little tale.
Also, I think one of Eisner’s underrated strengths was his ability to have cartoon-y stuff and realistic characters next to each other without it looking weird. He could have one dude with exaggerated features, almost Goofy if he turned into a real person, and then he can be next to a non-descript, normal guy, and somehow it works. I don’t know how he does that.”
