“I made a mistake:
When I read Fantastic Four: Full Circle, I was kind of meh about it, and then I saw most of the other reviews here thoroughly fellating the thing, and I thought, “What did I miss?”
I missed reading it in print.
Digital comics are pretty good, I read a lot of them, but for this one, the art is the star of the show, and you need it in full color, spread across two pages. Not 2/3 the size, not somewhat dimmed because the screen is too bright for my old man eyes, not a single page at a time.
Comics publishers, Amazon, Kobo, whoever: Where the fuck is my folding, two-pages-across, 8.5×11″ e-reader? Where? Why doesn’t this exist yet? What are you doing today? Making a waterproof Kindle? What the fuck for? So I can read in a bathtub? I can read my non-waterproof Kindle in the bathtub all I want. Why? Because I have a little something called “courage,” okay? I’m not going to live my life in fear.
Wait, if I drop the Kindle in the bathtub, it won’t kill me, right? I don’t think it can kill me…okay, maybe I’m going to start living my life in SOME fear. Damn it.”
