“There’s something here about our true crime obsession, but I’ve mostly softened on that whole thing.
What I DON’T care for is people talking about this or that being grotesque or ghoulish, but when it’s on a 20/20 special or a podcast where a group of ladies chat about a grisly murder, it’s cool.
For example, a gory movie is lesser than a true crime show, IMO, because the movie gore is completely fake, and there are no real people being exploited there.
But I’ve really stepped back on the “Maybe true crime isn’t good for us” thing. It’s a little weird to view the lives of others as entertainment, and at the same time, that cat is way out of the bag and all over Instagram, no?”
