Howdy,
You may have already noticed. You may have felt your spidey sense tingling and said to yourself, “I bet someone came up with yet another dumb, thing-by-thing premise for a podcast.”
If that happened, you’re totally right, and also you have an unfortunately attuned spidey sense. And with the frequency of podcast creation, I’d look into whether you’re experiencing spidey sense or some sort of tumor.
Anyway, what you may have already noticed is that here at helpfulsnowman, there’s an exciting new project, Amazing Spider Web Cast.
FAQ
Q: What?
A: Poorly formed. But I’ll bite. We’ll be going through Amazing Spider-Man comics, issue by issue, until we reach the end or something else happens or I get bored.
Q: I don’t like comics.
A: Not a question. But again, what choice do I have? It’s cool. You don’t have to know anything about comics to appreciate what’s going on. There will be some jokes about comics, for sure, but for the most part, if you’re vaguely familiar with Spider-Man, as a concept, you’ll love this shit.
Q: Why Spider-Man?
A: Because he’s the best super hero. Duh. I’ll fistfight anyone else who says otherwise. Don’t tweet me, don’t email me and disagree. Let’s just punch.
Q: What are we talking in terms of frequency here?
A: About once a week. Rather than doing a certain number of episodes every week, the goal is to put out 30 minutes or more every week. So if we’re in that range with one episode, that’s one episode that week. If the comics are too short or inconsequential to warrant that much talk, we’ll do more than one episode that week.
Q: What’s the best way to get the full experience?
A: My advice is to treat it like a book club. Read along with us! Even the longer issues take about 15 minutes to read.
Q: Will you have guests?
A: Sure. If you’re interested in being a guest, drop me a line. But we probably won’t end up having cool special guests because nobody gives a shit about any of this. But if Dan Slott is out there, and if he’s reading this, you’re a true hero and I’d love to talk to you any time. Same for John Romita Jr., Mark Bagley, Brian Michael Bendis, Mike Allred, and boatloads of others.
Q: Okay, how do I listen?
A: The pods will go up at Helpfulsnowman.com. There’s also a page dedicated to them, and it’s here. Of course, iTunes is always an option. Subscribe here.
Q: What about helpfulsnowman radio?
A: No change. We will keep forging on with it. No loss of interest, no problems. I’ve been considering adding other shows for a while. I thought about doing a sports show because I know nothing about sports. A comic book show. Reading all the Amazing-Spider Man comics, 1-700, was something I was already working on, and it seemed like it’d make a good premise.
Q: Does that mean you’re interested in hosting other shows? I’ve got this idea…
A: Hmm. Maybe. Pitch something to me. Let me know how you’re going to record it. I don’t know why you’d want to hitch your wagon to this half-dead horse, but we all make mistakes. Maybe you want to make yours with me (that line is from an unused marriage proposal, BTW).
Q: What else can I do to help out?
A: Follow on Twitter: @ThwipCast
