Review: The Tempest

The Tempest
The Tempest by William Shakespeare
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Prospero is trapped on an island, which may or may not be a much older Genosha, hard to tell.

In order to make his escape and rid the world of evil, he must assemble the ultimate super team.

Ariel: The world’s most powerful practitioner of magics, a sorcerer supreme, if you will, Ariel is the first to join Prospero’s team, but not by choice. Prospero saved Ariel from a trap set by Magneto, and because Ariel’s people operate under a strict code, she is honorbound to remain alongside Prospero and use her powers to do his bidding. Will she eventually break free? Will Prospero go too far? Will Ariel be forced to commit acts she would never do on her own?

Caliban: The only thing more monstrous than Caliban’s appearance is his strength. This bruiser is nigh-unstoppable, especially if he’s angry or has recently eaten of yon fruit of Cyttorrak.

Sycorax: Believed dead by most of the world (but we all know how long THAT lasts in super teams), Sycorax can communicate with those beyond the grave and is able to travel instantly from graveyard to graveyard, transporting herself through “the grey”.

Iris, Ceres, and Juno: Three ninjas who fight side-by-side, always. Also, they have pistols for some reason.

Gonzalo: A berserker warrior with the spirit of an artist, Gonzalo is able to blast might beams from his nostrils, but would trade his laser nose for a shot at love.

Stephano: When Stephano gets a taste of liquor, he’s transformed into the world’s greatest detective who is remarkably bad at picking up signals, such as Iris, Ceres, and Juno turning him down YET AGAIN for a menage.

Wolverine: Because fuck it, Wolverine sells books.

Can Prospero, his ragtag group of ragtags, and one plucky science helmet make an escape from the mysterious island?

Open the pages to find out. Shit’s about to get…tempestuous!
