Colored Pencils-
As art moved forward and there was a strong desire to put professional tools in the hands of the average person, many different options became available. During this time, colored pencils came about, basically because a grade school art teacher needed a way to kill time. There’s a lot of days in the school year.
Cray-Pas-
Sometimes called “those weird oily crayons” or “shirt ruiners,” cray-pas were a huge revolution in the art world. Mostly because they killed at least a day or so in grade school art classes.
Macaroni-
Though not invented for art, per se, macaroni became a staple of the art world. This inflexible, completely un-versatile substance is one of the few things that was done better by Kraft than it was in most homes in the US. Fortunately, this medium found a home in grade schools where, combined with glue, this killed an entire day of art class.
Watercolors-
Dissatisfied because oil paints were of too high quality and required talents of some sort, an enterprising guy at Crayola invented water colors in order to kill a day of art class in grade schools because sometimes it feels like the school year will just never end.
