I like Jim Mahfood’s art, and I think these comics are a lot of fun, however, they’re a bit rich, and this many of them back-to-back is a bad idea. It’s like fudge: a little goes a long way. If you’ve ever eaten an amount of fudge in one go that can be described in pounds, even as fractions of pounds, you know what I’m talking about. You know, and most dogs know. What is it with dogs and fudge? It’s like they know it’s poison, and they can’t help themselves, and they’ll not only eat it, they’ll eat a brick-sized hunk of fudge. But I guess I shouldn’t throw stones in this very transparent, fragile, glass house which currently does not contain any fudge but does contain one man with a bloated bellyful of guilt over eating a big plate of fudge alone. Or maybe that’s not guilt, maybe that is once again the fudge.
