“This volume was a little less fun for me, it kind of digs deeper into mysteries without getting us anywhere near the resolution of others, so I think it felt…
Okay, this one is more reality-based, we’re on a drilling rig on Titan, which sucks because drilling rigs, even in sci-fi futures, suck, and they might be even worse because everyone on the rig wears a goddamn Jason mask for some reason.
I think we started in gritty reality in volume 1, then got into cosmic horror, then this volume pulls back to mostly gritty reality for the bulk of it, just dabbling in cosmic horror by the end. The net result is that we get a more action-y, but still similar arc, weirdness wise, that we got in the first volume.
All that said, the action is good, the characters are pretty enjoyable, and what can I say, I like a comic where you think you’ve got a main character, and dude’s dead like 3 pages later.”
