Junji Ito’s stories and collections tend to blend a little, but at least three of these are going to stick with me, at least visually. The holes in the skin? Gross. The heads? Gross, and awesome. The balloon story was probably the best, even though it’s so weird and when Ito says it came from a dream, it makes a ton of sense. But somehow, it works better than a lot of dream/nightmare stories.
This one is probably my go-to Ito recommendation from here forward. Just super good stuff.”
