“I’m so pumped about the return of non-Twilight-ed Lobo and I can’t even tell you. Where is the motherfraggin’ collected edition of Lobo, by the way? What the hell, DC? I’ve never pirated a set of comics before, but I’m damn tempted.
This book…I don’t get it. Batman wants to put together a team of non-super-powered folks to kinda show people that regular people can be effective world-changers and shit. But about half his team has superpowers. Maybe more than half? Maybe most?
Of the books I’ve read during this project (Operation: DC Afterbirth!) this one has the strongest feel of right now, diversity-oriented stuff going on. I think this may be happening in DC comics as well as Marvel, I’m just not sure why nobody is really talking about it. But whatever.
I do think it’s funny that the black female hero is, basically, Beyonce. With superpowers. THAT’S something lots of people can identify with. A super rich supermodel who can also lead up a superhero team. Although she comes from a tough background, so that’s something.
At the end of the day, a pretty okay book where a bunch of people fight a bad guy with a metal skull alien face. I think maybe his name was Metal Skull Alien Face Head. Can’t remember. “
