“I’m not sure what the deal is with this book’s cover…Chinese takeout menu font? Then some…lines?
The book is about using “Super Mental Training” to enhance your sports performance.
The problem is, it came out in 1990, so while the ideas in the book aren’t totally unheard of, most of the book is about convincing readers (and athletes) that it’s not crazy to do things like think and talk positively about an upcoming match.
It’s mostly stuff that today I think we’d call mental preparation, maybe light meditation sort of stuff.
And the thing is, while the specific techniques are kinda interesting, it’s a book that seeks to prove the point that it might be worth your time to envision victory and playing well, and I buy that by like page 10, and then there are 240 more pages to go.
I think this is how my memoir will be received. “I realized what this dude was like in a few pages, then there were 240 more pages of the same. Never seen a memoir with so many farts in it…””
