“Okay, colorblind casting is all good, and far from the least believable thing in this movie. But I would like some kind of an indicator of whether we’re in our world, racially, or not. I spent maybe half the movie trying to figure out whether a Black soldier in the mix was a big deal or not. Because if this is mostly our world, it would be. If it’s not, then it doesn’t have to be. Just some kind of clue-in would make this work better.
Again, it’s not something I have strong feelings about, I’m just trying to figure out whether this is a world in which WWII units being desegregated would be a thing or not.”
