“My man is a photographer and has the flash enabled on his phone? Get out of here with that.
I think this movie is a pretty good horror movie with a genuinely wacky premise.
The worst thing about this movie is the rabid audience of filmgoers who use phrases like the continued colonization of Black bodies to talk about the this movie.
A) We ALL got it, it’s not exactly opaque in terms of its message.
B) the movie is simple enough to understand that we don’t need to hear about how smart you are because you get it.
My personal theory is that this movie will fade into obscurity because it’s more homework than it is spectacle. I have a hard time imagining people watching this one every Halloween.
I think there’s a horror romp and a horror classic in here, but it’s buried beneath so many layers of commentary that I don’t disagree with, but also don’t feel like I need to be walked through again.”
